I was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1969. My family had moved out here from the UK. My father passed
away when I was 10 which meant that I spent the rest of my schooling at a boarding school in the country. After leaving school I joined the South African Navy as a diver. I left the navy after 3 and half years. I have always
loved taking photographs, so it made sense to make a career out of it. In 1990 I form Gavin Wither Photography cc. I mainly focus on wedding and portraits. My other big love is aviation. I can remember from my
early days how my father used to take me to airshows in and around Cape Town. I now have the privilege of capturing those memories on camera. I currently do regular work for Thunder City who are based here at Cape
Town International airport. It is truly an honour to be able to work with flying English Electric Lightning’s, Black Buccaneers and Hawker Hunters.
I am married to Heather (my strongest and wisest crit) and we have a son Matthew (13).
